reCAPTCHA Score and Filtering Settings

How the reCAPTCHA score works and what it means

reCAPTCHA analyzes user behavior patterns and calculates a score in the range of 0.0 to 1.0:

  • Score close to 1.0: High likelihood of legitimate access by a human

  • Score close to 0.0: high possibility of bot or unauthorized access

*This score is calculated based on multiple factors, including user behavior, browser characteristics, and past behavior patterns.

How to choose your score level (0.0-1.0)

Jicoo allows you to choose from the following score levels

  • 0.0 - Allow all access (no protection)

  • 0.1 - Fairly lax: blocks only obvious bots

  • 0.3 - Somewhat lax: filters suspicious access but reduces false positive

  • 0.5 - Standard/ recommended: Balanced level of protection

  • 0.7 - Somewhat Strict: More stringent protection, possible false positives

  • 0.9 - Strict: very strict protection, some legitimate users may be affected

  • 1.0 - Most stringent (most access may be blocked)

The appropriate score level depends on the amount and importance of spam you are receiving. We recommend starting with “0.5 - standard/recommended” and adjusting as needed.

Filter Type Settings and Usage

With reCAPTCHA, you can choose between two filter types for how to handle cases where the score falls below a set threshold:

1. Treat as spam

  • Submissions are saved, but marked as spam

  • The user will see the normal completion page

  • The host (administrator) is not notified when a user submits a booking or form

  • The user's submission can be viewed under Bookings > Spam.

Suitable Situations:

  • You know it could be spam, but you don't want to miss an important booking

  • You want to check later if it is spam or not

  • You want to minimize the impact of false positives

2. Treat as unauthorized access

  • Submitted content is not saved and is treated as an error

  • The user will receive an error message (reCAPTCHA authentication error)

  • The transmission is completely blocked

Suitable Situations:

  • You want to completely block obvious spam or unauthorized access

  • You do not want to store spam data in the database

  • Security is your top priority
